Can you tell us a bit of background information prior to joining #TeamKC
Before my apprenticeship at Kidderminster college, I was at a different college studying a level 2 course in childcare. After doing my level 2 course I found that I enjoyed working with children and being part of a team. So, I decided to further my education and do a STALS level 3 course at Kidderminster College.
What has your experience been like during this period?
I’ve been working throughout Covid-19 and my experience during that time has been very good. I have been working between two different schools during this time and I have felt very safe due to the schools following the government guidelines. I’ve also been able to access all the course work very easily and have also had lots of support from the college.
Why should people still choose to do an Apprenticeship this summer?
People should choose to do an apprenticeship this summer because there are many options available to suit different people’s needs. I liked the idea of doing an apprenticeship because it allows me to get practical training, whilst also receiving education at the college.’
Shelley Reaves (Headteacher), can you tell us a bit about Ben as an apprentice?
The secret to Ben’s success as an apprentice is that he is completely dedicated to every aspect of his role in school – he thrives because he enjoys what he has chosen to do. Ben is hardworking and only ever demonstrates a high level of commitment of putting theory into practice within the work placement. As his employer we could not wish for a better member of staff who always shows a great degree of initiative and emotional intelligence. A team player who interacts well with his colleagues and is respected in everything he does.
It has been a pleasure to observe Ben grow in confidence and maturity – he is greatly rewarded because he always puts the effort and time into his studies and practice.’
Sally Rowen (College Tutor) can you tell us in a few words how Ben has progressed?
Ben works really hard and is amazingly mature for his age.
