Hairdressing Diploma – Level 3

This technical level qualification will qualify you to become a senior hairdresser/stylist.

With an intense focus on advanced haircutting techniques, styling and finishing methods alongside mastering sophisticated hair colouring and colour correction practices, this course will intensify your already extensive arsenal ready for you to take the hair industry by storm.

Covering professional customer service techniques, planning and implementation of forward-thinking looks and approaches, this course will take place within our award-winning salon, Elements, where you will be working on paying members of the public.

This qualification will install a high standard of skill, theoretical and practical knowledge which is reflected by the fact that we have a 100% success rate into employment from all learners who complete this course.

  • What will be studied

    This Level 3 Diploma covers many advanced aspects of working within the hair industry; modules will include:

    • Advanced haircutting techniques
    • Practicing cutting-edge styling and hair finishing methods
    • Application of colour
    • Carrying out colour correction
    • Advanced customer service techniques
    • The implementation of health and safety throughout the salon
    • Planning and implementing an end of year hair show
  • What are the entry requirements?

    All under 19's are required to have the following:-

    • 4 of more GCSE's at grade F or above
    • Hairdressing Diploma Level 2 qualification
    • A good standard of education

    All candidates are required to have:-

    • A strong work ethic
    • Excellent people skills
    • Provide a suitable reference

    On receipt of your application you will required to attend an interview to assess your suitability for the course and undertake a written assessment task.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Completion of this course will allow hairdressers to become eligible to become a State Registered Graduate Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council.

    Whilst this qualifications primary purpose is to prepare learners for a senior hairdressing/stylist role, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by undertaking Advanced Specialist qualifications at Level 4, including:-

    • VTCT Salon Management Diploma Level 4
    • A1 Assessor Award
    • Teacher Training Certificate.

    As mentioned above, we are extremely proud of the fact that after completing this course, 100% of our learners have gone into employment as from 2017.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    At the end of this one year study period you will gain a Hairdressing Diploma Level 3 qualification

  • How will this course be delivered?

    Lectures will be a mix of theoretical and practical work

    You will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, independent work, 1:1 support, tutorials and group critiques.

    As with Level 1 and 2 of this qualification, a work placement will feature as part of this course, this will run for one complete week and will be organised by Kidderminster College.

     A work placement is essential in the hair industry, allowing you to experience what it is truly like to be 'on the job', to learn from your colleagues and to perfect your skill and confidence.

    You will also be working under supervision within our awarding-winning Elements salon which is on-site at our main Kidderminster College campus.

    Work placements and work experience at Kidderminster College is designed so that you are able to build both your confidence and skills to that you will be able to work effortlessly within the industry.

    You will get a chance to enter external competitions and really show-off your skills in both a regional and national setting.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Due to the high standard of this course, the assessments for this qualification will be carried out on real, playing clients in line with commercial service times.
