Creative Media - Level 3

• 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a UAL Level 3 Diploma Creative Media.

• Directing
• Floor Management and mixing
• Camera, lighting, and audio operation
• Podcasting
• Journalistic interviewing technique and presenting
• Interactive digital media production
• Projection mapping and digital design
• Vlog production
• Editing using Premier pro
• Asset design using Blender
• Website design
• Music video production
• Social networking and youtube content creation

Mainly through practical work and projects e.g.

• Creating films as a director, editor, writer and/or crew
• Working on our new TV programme to create and film content.
• Creating aural products e.g. podcasts or working on radio adaptations 
• Collaborating with our industry partners to create podcasts, vlogs, video content and marketing materials 
• By learning from current industry professionals who lead the course @KC and by visiting regional and national film production companies

There are no exams with UAL qualifications. All modules are assessed at pass/fail only until your final module, the Final Major Project -  in which all the knowledge and skills you have developed over the course are put to use in a project designed by you and the tutors to showcase your unique skills and thus maximise your potential in terms of your final grade.

Throughout the year there will be a number of opportunities to work across departments within KC to create different projects. These include:

• Creating music videos with music students or filming and editing their gigs
• Collaborating with performing arts on their performances either as digital designers or performance capture

Work placements and work experience are designed so that you can build both your confidence and skills to that you will be able to work effortlessly within the industry. These include:

• Working with the new Kidderminster Arts Centre on various projects e.g. marketing, video capture, podcasts
• Collaborating with local businesses to create digital marketing materials
• Masterclasses with industry professionals and visits to film and radio production companies.

• Learners aged 16 -18 will be expected to study English and Maths as a mandatory requirement for the study programme if GCSE grade 4 and above are not achieved.

Tutorial is a program of essential topics affecting you as a potential employee and member of a community. You will cover topics to improve employability skills, mental fitness (both for you and those around you) and much more. It is an essential part of your personal development.

As part of you weekly timetable, you will be expected to take part in Tutorial. This consists of a 1-1 meeting (at least 3 a year) and Personal Development activities that develop you both personally and professionally. Part of the focus is to raise digital Standards and take part in Employer Engagement Activities such as guest speakers, logging Work Experience and in person and online networking.

We work with Student Experience, Careers and your Curriculum team to ensure your Tutorial elements link to your industry area and to create opportunities to develop key skills for profile raising as well as enabling you to create competitive applications and CVs.

Tutorial is also an opportunity to check in with you as part of a group and individually. You can discuss any issues you might be having that affect your learning and essentially identify strategies and support available to you.

• Upon successful completion of this course, you can go progress onto our Higher Education course BA Hons Creative Industries Top Up or go onto complete a university degree.
• Alternatively, you can go into employment through various areas, including film, television, and advertising, becoming a producer, YouTuber, podcaster, and streamer/influencer.
