Elissa Jones: T Level success and a future in primary teaching
Elissa Jones chose the T Level in Childcare at Kidderminster College because she knew she wanted to pursue a career in teaching. She was particularly interested in learning about child development and understanding the different ways children can be supported.
Combining learning with real childcare experience
Elissa Jones chose the T Level in Childcare at Kidderminster College because she knew she wanted to pursue a career in teaching. She was particularly interested in learning about child development and understanding the different ways children can be supported.
Her hard work throughout the course has paid off, with Elissa achieving A in her T Level results.
She said: “I chose the Childcare T Level because I knew I wanted to pursue a career in teaching.”
Gaining valuable industry experience
As part of her T Level, Elissa completed an industry placement in a childcare environment, giving her the opportunity to put her learning into practice and gain an insight into working with children.
The experience helped develop her confidence and confirmed that working with children is the career she wants to pursue.
She added: “The placement confirmed for me that working with children is the career I want to pursue.”
Elissa particularly enjoyed being able to apply what she had learned about child development in a real childcare environment.
Developing skills for the future
Alongside her course and placement, Elissa has developed strong communication, teamwork and planning skills, which she knows will be valuable as she progresses towards a career in teaching.
She is particularly proud of the progress she has made in confidence through her placement, as well as the results she achieved through her hard work.
Elissa said: “I am particularly proud of my results because they show the hard work I put into my T Level throughout the course.”
Looking ahead to university
After completing her final year of T Level, Elissa plans to progress to university to study Primary Teaching, with the aim of becoming a primary school teacher.
Her experiences throughout her T Level and industry placement have confirmed that teaching is the career she wants to pursue.
For anyone considering a T Level, Elissa recommends the combination of learning and practical experience.
Elissa told us: “If you want to study a course which combines learning with practical experience, a T Level would be for you.”
