The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting men’s hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair and how to offer a suitable consultation service for clients.

Underpinning this qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety while working in the barber industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

This qualification aims to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your salon services.

How often does this course run?

This course runs one evening per week. Start date and Times to be confirmed.

You will be notified of the next available start date once you have submitted your application.

Entry requirements:

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification, however any previous experience of hairdressing would be beneficial.

What will I achieve?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Barbering.

This qualification may lead directly into employment in the barbering industry as a junior stylist or to work as an independent barber

What will I learn?

Course content will include practical and theory units:

Follow health and safety practice in the salon
Client consultation for hair services
Cut men's hair
Cut facial hair

How is the course taught?

The course will be delivered over 22 weeks, made up of practical classes and theory classes.

How am I assessed?

The course is delivered through practical and theory lessons.

You will receive practical demonstrations and theory input to develop your knowledge and understanding and prepare you for assessment and examination.

My passion lies in creating enjoyable and effective learning environments where I share knowledge and impart valuable skills and expertise. With a strong focus on practical skills, industry relevance, and employability, I aim to prepare students for success in the ever-evolving world of hairdressing. As a Hairdressing Lecturer, I go beyond teaching, supporting learners with critical skills and pastoral care. In my new role as a Leading Practitioner, I am dedicated to helping colleagues and contributing to a collaborative learning community.
