Education Manager - Safari AcademyMy background is in teaching, where I taught in schools for over 20 years before becoming Education Manager at West Midland Safari Park. Working in the animal care industry makes my job very varied and exciting. The best part is being amongst the stunning collection of animals we have close by. The industry is competitive, but if you have a passion for caring for animals, it's right for you.
Oonagh Dervish-lang
Tutor - EquineI am a lecturer in the Further Education Equine Department, where I am course lead for BHS Work-Based Horse Care Levels 1 & 2 and Level 3 Technical Equine Management Level 1 & 2. I have lectured for four years in the Further Education and Higher Education sectors. I currently teach a range of practical and theoretical sessions, including ground schooling, coaching, biology and equine management topics for Equestrian Practice. Concentrating on building confidence with knowledge and understanding to help prepare students for the industry for the benefit of the horse. My main area of interest is equitation. I enjoy competing and training my horse in British Dressage.

Tutor - EquineI have lots of experience working in the equine industry, from coaching pony club to running a riding school and livery yard. I have a passion for horses and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with learners looking to pursue a career within the industry. In my spare time, I like to compete with my own horses.

Tutor - Kidderminster Harriers Football AcademyI am a passionate sports educator with a wealth of experience in football coaching and academic instruction at Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy. As a Sports Lecturer, I am dedicated to inspiring and shaping the next generation of football players. Through extensive knowledge and commitment to excellence, I play a pivotal role in creating an environment where aspiring players learn the intricacies of football and develop the academic and life skills necessary for success beyond the playing field.

Tutor - Work-Based Animal CareI teach Animal Care from Level 1 to Level 4. I love to see how students' confidence and skills grow as they progress through their courses. These students are the animal carers of the future, so sharing my passion for animal welfare is so important. Animal care is a hard job that requires you to be outside in all weathers. My job is to light a spark in the students that will drive them to want to work with the animals they care for, even when the weather is terrible.

Tutor - Work-Based Animal CareI'm the course coordinator for Level 2 Work-Based Animal Care and Personal Development Tutor for all KC Animal Care and Equine courses. I love to see my students' confidence and skills develop from the start to the end of each year, with the care and welfare of the animals we have the fantastic opportunity to work with at our many offsite provisions. It is extremely rewarding to support and see them progress onto their following destinations, whether that be another course at Kidderminster, employment or Higher Education at University. I am lucky to be part of a very supportive and hardworking team with our Kidderminster and Safari Academy courses, and we offer our students valuable knowledge and care from our own industry experience to ensure they have a positive learning journey with us.

Tutor - Work-Based Animal CareFrom my experience in the industry working with Cheetahs, Lorikeets, Tigers, Reindeer and Llamas to Chinchillas, it is essential students get the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working hands-on with animals and gaining knowledge in the classroom. The courses I run are a great mix of exciting and informative theory sessions and work-related practical experience working with various animals, including Emus, Wallabies, Alpacas, Pigs, Lemurs, Horses, Macaws, Cows and many more!

Tutor - CarpentryI began my career as a carpentry apprentice and contributed my skills on a new build site. I progressed to site manager, then to contract manager, for over 20 years. I always aimed to give back to an industry that had given me so much, so I became a lecturer to pass on my experience and passion for carpentry and joinery trade to the next generation.
Ryan Pitkin
Tutor - Motor VehicleI have over ten years of experience teaching and delivering Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair courses. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training and a TAQA Assessor qualification. I completed my Level 3 Motorsport Maintenance and Repair course whilst working for a private vehicle sales company preparing, repairing and servicing vehicles for the sales team. I then progressed by serving as a Vehicle mechanic for the British Military during the early stages of my teaching career. I have experience delivering Motor Vehicle Level 1, 2 and 3 courses for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and The City and Guilds. I enjoy seeing learners progress and develop skills to enter the ever-adapting Automotive industry as a mechanic.
Glyn Taylor-Marshall
Tutor - Art and Design & Performing ArtsMy specialist area is in the arts, where I am versed in most mediums, e.g. performance skills/theatre, fine art, and contemporary/conceptual processes, including Live Art. I hold a BA in Fine art and an MA in Performance Studies. My teaching degree also specialises in learners with additional needs, and I hold a further qualification at Level 5 in Special Needs Education. I am an avid record collector, and I feel it is important to introduce my learners to all parts of popular culture, including music, politics and current ethical topics.
Laura-Beth Connelly
Tutor - DanceI am passionate and enthusiastic about learning, developing and teaching. I love to deliver sessions that allow individuals to create, share and learn together. I've gained a plethora of experience in performing and teaching, specialising in Contemporary dance, but I have a diverse range of knowledge in Jazz, Tap, Ballet and choreographic techniques. I find true satisfaction in watching dancers grow and develop using their bodies in the most efficient, robust and technical manner. I love passionate dancers with drive, there is nothing more fulfilling than facilitating learners engaging and evolving each week!

Tutor - MusicMusic is my all-consuming passion. This included writing, performing, recording, producing, running a record label, tour managing and managing bands, before moving into teaching and lecturing. Having the opportunity to teach and support students through the music course as they transform from beginners to fully fledged professional musicians, whether that be behind the scenes or 'out front' performing, is an absolute joy.

Tutor - Tourism and HospitalityI have a love for travel, tourism and aviation operations. Having worked as a cabin crew for the UK's flagship carrier, British Airways, I now share my passion for guiding learners towards pursuing a career within the industry. Witnessing learners' hard work results in successful destinations such as employment for companies including Jet2, TUI, and Swissport is rewarding. The realistic KC Air cabin mock-up provides our learners with a hands-on and unique learning experience, preparing them for the dynamic travel and tourism industry.

Tutor - Tourism and HospitalityI currently teach on the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality course, with experience teaching across both further and higher education. My BA in International Tourism Business Management degree enabled me to gain invaluable skills and industry knowledge, which I enjoy sharing with my teaching. I have experience working in hospitality, events and customer service. I enjoy travelling to new places and immersing myself in the local history and culture.

I can pass on my knowledge and experiences to learners starting their careers and those who feel ready to progress into management. Having the link with local employers also makes the role varied and interesting, as you can see how the topics taught in the classroom are translated into the work environment.

Tutor - BusinessI have worked with apprentices at Kidderminster College since 2015 to showcase their knowledge, skills and behaviours from their business administrator roles. I love the variety of my role, working with employers and apprentices from a wide range of organisations and sectors to help them build on their skills and achieve their potential throughout their apprenticeship. Every day is different, and nothing is better than seeing our apprentices' transformation from the start to the end of their time with us.

Tutor - DanceI am the Course Leader for Dance in Higher Education at Kidderminster College. I have toured as a dancer with several UK-based contemporary companies, worked as a choreographer on several local and national community-based projects, and received Arts Council Funding for my own independent work. In more recent years, my career has become solely focused on education and helping nurture the talent of future performing artists.

Tutor - SportSports are a huge passion of mine, and I have been teaching this for 14 years. I am keen on creating enrichment opportunities through sports and encouraging lifelong participation. My goal as a lecturer in sports is to encourage students to discover different career paths in the field, along with continuing their enjoyment through the practical side. Seeing students succeed in roles like physiotherapy, teaching, and occupational health within Formula 1 has been a real heart-warming moment for me in my career, and I hope to instil this passion for learning and sport in all I teach.

Tutor - Creative MediaI am an effective classroom practitioner and creative professional in Visual Arts. I am enthusiastic about education and the arts. I always strive to ensure that all students succeed and fulfil their academic potential. Creating vibrant and informative schemes of work, helping students to develop their creativity and intellect at a pace suited to their personalities and abilities. I have worked with a varied range of students including primary, secondary, SEN, SEMH, undergraduate, and vocational. I have worked with students with complex needs and those disengaged in education. I hold a QTS, and have been teaching for 10 years full time, having previously worked in the media industry as a videographer and graphic designer.
