Vocational Skills Centre Update 14/10/2022

Letter for parents/guardians of students studying Property Maintenance, Brickwork, Light Vehicle Maintenance and Vehicle Respraying:

Dear Parent /Guardian

We are well into the Autumn Term of the new academic year, and I very much hope that your child is enjoying learning new skills in their chosen subject, that will support them in achieving their future goals.  Your son/daughter is currently studying one of our courses:

We are writing to inform you that the above provision will be delivered from a new location after the half term break which commences on the 21st of October, the new address is 26 Walter Nash Road, Kidderminster, DY11 7QY.

A map of the new location and a picture of the new building can be found below to make it easy to find.   Your child will also receive an email to inform them of this and staff will be arranging visits to the new site for all students ahead of the move.

This handy link will help you plan your journey, just type in your starting location and select car, bus, train or walking routes: Google Maps to 26 Walter Nash Road, DY11 7QY

Learners will start to attend the new site on the week commencing 7th November 2022. This is a week later than normal and is to enable teaching staff to prepare resources and the new workshops for commencement of learning. Due to fixed dates for GCSE exams, GCSE lessons will be held via MS Teams in week commencing 31st of October. Students will not lose any vocational study time as this will be added on to the end of the academic year in July.

I understand that moving premises during an academic year can be disruptive, however the new facility is far superior to the existing areas and offers a significantly improved learning environment and experience for all our students.

If your son/daughter is due resit their GCSE Maths and/or English exam week commencing 31st of October, they must attend the main college campus and check their booking in advance with their tutor as these are national exam resits and cannot be rescheduled.

Further to this letter, we will be sending out travel plans and guidance directly to students and we will also be holding a parents evening at the new centre on the week commencing 14th of November, where our delivery staff and management will be on hand to discuss your child’s progress and answer any queries you may have.

Yours faithfully,

Adam Griffin
