Kidderminster College T-Level Learner Raises Funds for British Heart Foundation with his employer, Kori Construction.

William Harding-Taylor organised and ran a BBQ and Bake Sale at Kori’s Construction site on Norton Road, raised £645 with donations still coming in.

William is a first-year student on the Electrotechnical Engineering T-Level at Kidderminster College. Although not a required part of his course, William’s passion for giving back to the community shone through as he helped to organise a CPR training session, inviting in many local stakeholders, contractors and the workers on site to take part.

In addition, to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, William organised a BBQ and Bake Sale, selling delicious hot and cold food to raise funds for the charity.

Elaine Kendall, Head of Sustainability and Communications, explained the connection between Kori Construction and the British Heart Foundation:

“Our employees truly are the heart of Kori Construction, so what better way to celebrate 15 years in business than to partner with the British Heart Foundation as our charity partner of the year to not only further support our employees’ wellbeing, but for Team Kori to have lots of fun fundraising for this worthwhile cause along the way.

With estimations that in the UK more than half of us will get a heart or circulatory condition in our lifetime, and with heart and circulatory diseases currently killing 1 in 4 people in the UK, we are targeting raising £15,000 throughout our 15th anniversary year to enable the British Heart Foundation to keep funding research to improve millions more lives.

As part of this, we are holding BHF Wellbeing Days at every location throughout the year, which includes providing not only our employees, but also our supply chain partners and neighbours, with lifesaving CPR training, blood pressure monitoring and wellbeing guidance.”

Danny Pardoe, Employer Engagement Manager at Kidderminster College, adds: “Developing partnerships like this between Kori Construction, Kidderminster College and British Heart Foundation certainly go to the show the importance of collaboration on a local level.  These collaborations benefit not only the learner by developing their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills but also make an impact on the local communities we serve.”
