Higher Education Fair at Kidderminster College: A Huge Success for Students' Future Prospects
Kidderminster College recently held its annual Higher Education (HE) Fair, allowing students to explore their options for further education and careers beyond College. The event, organised by Fiona Van Dijk, our dedicated Careers Adviser, welcomed representatives from various universities and HE institutions, helping students gain valuable insights into their future pathways.
The fair saw an impressive turnout, with over 150 attendees from Level 2 and Level 3 courses. Learners, accompanied by their lecturers, engaged in meaningful conversations with representatives from institutions such as Birmingham City University, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University, and University College Birmingham, among others. The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Hub was also present, offering advice on apprenticeship routes.
Fiona noted the positive engagement: "It was great to see so many learners interacting with the universities and institutions. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and many of our students have made informed decisions about their future, with some even raising their aspirations to progress into higher education."
University Feedback and Highlights
Feedback from the universities and institutions was equally encouraging. Representatives praised the event’s organisation and communication, with many appreciating the chance to engage in deep, constructive conversations with the students. One representative said, "It was great to speak to your students—they were engaging, and it was clear we helped many work on what they want to do next."
The Importance of the HE Fair
The HE Fair plays a critical role in shaping the future of Kidderminster College students by offering them direct access to university representatives and apprenticeship providers. With a wide range of courses and careers, students had the chance to explore various paths, helping them make well-informed decisions about their next steps after College.
This year’s event demonstrated the College’s ongoing commitment to student success and highlighted the importance of events like the HE Fair in empowering students to take control of their futures.
