SPACE Rooms
Our new environments support independence, wellbeing, and practical skills for life and work.

The SPACE Rooms at Kidderminster College offer our students the opportunity to build key skills required for life and future careers.
Accessible Training Kitchen
A fully accessible kitchen where students build essential life skills like cooking, budgeting, and meal preparation. It also supports training in hospitality tasks — including hot drink preparation and customer service.
Independence Flat
This is our brand-new learning space, fully equipped with all the features of a home. It’s designed to give students hands-on experience with everyday life skills - like cooking on a budget, cleaning, doing laundry, ironing, changing the bed, and staying safe at home.
We’re ambitious for our students and want the skills we teach to have a real impact on their futures. That includes staying safe online and getting confident with everyday technology, such as using chip and pin, click and collect, and more.
Student Common Room
Our dedicated Student Common Space is designed especially for our supported Foundation students to come together in a relaxed, supportive environment. It’s a space where students can collaborate on their coursework, enjoy meals with friends, and build social confidence.
It also provides a welcoming setting for learners to spend time with their Learning Support Practitioners and teaching staff outside of the classroom, helping to strengthen relationships and encourage continued support throughout the day.
Sensory Room
At Kidderminster College, we understand that some students may benefit from time away from the demands of a busy college day. That’s why we’ve created two dedicated sensory spaces designed to support students who need a quiet, supportive environment to re-regulate, refocus, and feel secure.
A sensory room is a specially designed space that provides a controlled environment for interacting with different sensory experiences. These rooms help individuals, particularly those with autism or sensory processing differences, to regulate their sensory input and develop coping strategies. Our sensory rooms feature equipment and materials that engage the senses - such as calming lights, textured objects and soothing sounds.
Our sensory rooms are available to all students and can be accessed independently (with remote supervision) or with guidance from our specialist team. These spaces promote autonomy, emotional wellbeing, and self- management - key skills for success both in and beyond the classroom.
