The Point – Traineeships

A Traineeship is a flexible education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people, ages 16 to 24! This programme prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.

There are many benefits to taking on a Trainee, some of which are:-

  • Short length of commitment.
  • Training costs are met by government funding.
  • Ability to design a high-quality traineeship to suit your business.
  • Current employees will have the chance to build mentoring skills.
  • Develop a loyal talented workforce and tackle youth unemployment.
  • Employers are not required to offer a job at the end of the Traineeship, however, must provide an exit interview together with written feedback to help them secure a future apprenticeship or other employment.

Companies commit to providing a high-quality work experience opportunity, which is substantial and meaningful. It should last for at least 100 hours (a max. of 240 hours for benefit claimants) over a max. of 6 months alongside other training. Long enough to enable the trainee to develop new skills, ensuring they are work ready. Employers offer an opportunity to work closer to their desired areas of interest.

Training costs are met by Government Funding. Employers are NOT required to pay for the trainee but may support with expenses such as transport. A traineeship will not impact a young person’s benefit entitlement.

They are very flexible and tailored to the needs of your business and those of the individual. Firstly, we will assess the needs of the young person. Then, agreements will be made to what days the trainee will be on work placement and decide how the programme is delivered.
