Elements – Hair and Media Make-up


Training to a high standard and gaining realistic experience within the theatrical and media industry, our learners are taught and coached through a vast variety of techniques and skills essential to make it in the world of media artistry. On the course learners gain enrichment activities by working with Kidderminster Fire Service recreating accident scenes and team up with our own Performing Art department here at the college. The skills gained on this course allows them to progress towards working in a diverse industry, ranging from fashion and beauty to theatre and special effects.


Level 2 Hair and Media Make-Up

Our Level 2 Diploma gives learners all the skills to work as a hair and make-up artist.

Learning hairdressing, client care & makeup application, students build up a broad skill set to draw on in their chosen careers.

The course covers a variety of modules including

  • Art of dressing hair
  • Art of photographic make-up
  • Nail art
  • Colouring and cutting hair
  • Face and body painting
  • Health and safety
  • Creating an image based on a theme

Learners are able to potentially work as a junior hair and makeup artist or a freelance hair & makeup artists once this course is complete. Alternatively, learners can move on to Level 3 to hone their skills.


Level 3 Hair and Media Make-Up 

Level 3 study expands further on skills learned over the course of Level 2,  covering topics such as

  • Application of Airbrush make-up
  • Camouflage make-up
  • Media make up (including SFX)
  • Fashion and photographic make-up
  • Individual permanent lashes extensions
  • Style and fit postiche
  • Application of prosthetic pieces and bald caps
