Kidderminster College scoop Training Provider of the Year Award…
The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards took place on 17th November, celebrating the achievements of Worcestershire’s best apprentices, training providers and schools. The awards, now in their third year, are organised by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire County Council.
The Training Provider of the Year is awarded to the provider who excels in their contribution to apprenticeships, both through increasing numbers and quality, and in their role as apprenticeship ambassadors, promoting apprenticeships in Worcestershire to young people, schools and employers.
Kidderminster College has been delivering apprenticeships in Worcestershire for more than 20 years. Over the past two years, we have seen a 50% increase in the number of 16 to 18 year olds starting apprenticeship programmes. Statistically, the College’s success rates are well above the national average with an outstanding 99% of apprentices remaining in employment on completion of their apprenticeship programmes.
The college is delighted to have been awarded Training Provider of the Year, and proud that their hard work and commitment in promoting apprenticeships, and the dedication and support that is given to both their apprentices and employers, have been recognised by this award. Jennie Short, Head of Business and Training at Kidderminster College said “It’s great to see a young person come into college, who’s perhaps just left school and then see that person getting their first real job, earning some money, progressing up the career ladder and going onto great things.”
The awards, this year sponsored by Yamazaki Mazak UK and Worcester Bosch Group, were held at the Tree Tops Pavilion at West Midlands Safari Park. The host for the evening was Tim Campbell, MBE, a business owner and winner of the first series of the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’.
Jennie Short, accepting the award on behalf of Kidderminster College said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It has been a real team effort and it is a credit to everybody that works at Kidderminster College.”
