Year 1 Public Services students visited RAF Brize Norton, the largest station in the Royal Air Force. They met with a variety of RAF personnel who spoke about their life and career in the RAF.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and although they did not take off, they spent some time in and around the massive C17 aircraft used to carry everything from RAF personnel to tanks. All the students were positive about the day with comments such as:
“I did not know that the RAF would fund some university courses and apprenticeships, and they pay you while you train.”
“The RAF give you more opportunities than the outside world.”
“I do not need previous qualifications, the RAF train you.”
“I could be a police officer in the RAF, I didn’t know that.”
As a result of their visit, a number of students are now seriously considering a career in the RAF.
