We were honoured to have the amazing Rich Brown visit Kidderminster College to give a masterclass to our music students. Rich discussed working in various jazz and improvisation settings, and then he worked with a smaller group of bass players and discussed various ways of practising.
Rich has played with some amazing musicians including Steve Colman, Vernon Reid, Hermato Pascoal and Bruce Cockburn, as well as appearing in the Mariah Carey movie ‘Glitter’ and ‘The Natalie Cole Story’, as well as the television series ‘Soul Food’. He has been twice nominated for the “Electric Group of the Year” Canada National Jazz Award.
Rich said: “I had an amazing time in Birmingham, England last week with the students and staff at Kidderminster College. Very grateful to Kidderminster College and Steve Lawson for the wonderful opportunity to teach in the UK.”
Our Music students benefit from regular Masterclasses throughout their course, including a mix of sessions, some delivered by our staff to extend learning, with others being delivered by visiting guests from the music industry.
Kidderminster College have a wealth of tutors who have worked in the industry, which is why we are able to use these connections to get such big names to visit the college.
