Games Design – Comic 24/05/2021

Welcome to the first of many KC Student Spotlights! It’s a chance for us to really shout about all the incredible work our KC students do and to showcase the talent of our next generation!

Kicking it all off, we have Mai. Mai is on our KC Level 2 Games Design qualification and has been working on her Comic Module.

The Games Industry continues to go from strength to strength, which is really unsurprising as over the course of lockdown, many of us turned to our consoles for a sense of normality and escapism.

Kidderminster College offer two levels of Games Design, Level 2 and Level 3; so after you’ve finished studying with us, you’ll have three years of experience under your belt! You get to cover the essential principles of design as well as story and character development.

Mai is an amazing illustrator and very advanced in her knowledge and understanding in comic books and animations. Mai is inspired to become an animator one day and create her own graphic novel series. We honestly can’t wait to see what she creates next!

"Something that inspired me to make this is because I love anime and manga and I also love fantasy stuff, the reason why I create this type of comic is that I've always wanted to create one for my own novels and my main goal in the future is animator, making anime and manga"-Mai

You’d be surprised by the sheer volume of careers you can get into once you have a KC Games Design qualification under your belt:

  • QA / Games tester
  • 3D Modeller
  • Digital Artist
  • Indie Game developer
  • Animator
  • VFX artist
  • Games Story Writer
  • Comic Author

This is just a tiny example of the sort of roles you could go on to, and if you’re thinking about going down the university path, you can do that as well! All of our Level 3 Vocational Courses carry UCAS points, so if Uni is your next step, we’ve got you covered.
