At Home with #TeamKC – Week 3 14/04/2020

KC AT HOME – Week 3

We’re back from our Easter Break here in the Marketing Department, and we’re not going to lie, it was definitely a strange one. Easter is normally a time spent with family and friends; but due to lockdown, we had to add a twist to it. Zoom family dinners, FaceTime Bingo and quizzes featured heavily over our short break. It certainly made us thankful for technology, for our ability be together, despite not being in the same room. Some of us even managed to squeeze in socially distanced easter egg hunts!

Last week was a relatively quiet one at #TeamKC, half-term tends to have that effect! But we did get up to some things…

Our Games Design students have been practicing camera angles, framing and positioning whilst in lockdown. One of them came up with this super cute comic square about Bear! It’s amazing to see all of our KC Students utilising their time to hone their skills and create and expand their portfolios!

MAS Patron Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs put this out the other day, a spin on their smash hit Oh My God, they’ve given it a lockdown makeover and come up with Oh My God (Stay Home Edition) | Kaiser Chiefs. Have a listen!

MAS Records have also been diving into and revamping their archives, re-mastering this interview with long time friend of MAS Davey Warsop. Originally from Bromsgrove, Davey now lives in Orange County, California. This interview will take you through the story of how one song took him and his band all over the world: to as far as Japan and signing a deal with Major Label Warners; to then open the doors into modelling, brand deals; and establishing his career into music production, working on records with Foo Fighters and Green Day’s Tre Cool.

Interviewed by Scott Garrett and Andy Edwards from MAS Records

We’ve been wanting to share more than just KC NEWS with you for awhile, being part of #TeamKC is not just about celebrating the fact you’ve found your place with us, it’s about the journey and the after as well! We wanted to create a platform where we can share advice, tutorials, How-To’s, stuff that you’ll find interesting and helpful in the long run, not just whilst your at college.

We also wanted to create a platform that you can contribute to (and get your contribution recognised), where we can get guest writers in to share their experiences and advice, where you can find a different, un-biased and informed opinion about what’s going on in the world right now and how to manage it.

Over the coming weeks we’re hoping to get in guest writers, student bloggers and tutors to create some awesome content for us. So make sure you check back regularly and if you’re interested in submitting something, pop the Marketing Team an email:-

9am on the dot, we’re in front of our computer screens doing one of Joe Wicks'(sometimes gruelling) work-outs! Exercise is obviously incredibly important normally, but it’s even more so during lockdown. Regular exercise is great for your mental health, it helps you stick to a regular routine and it’s an amazing source of self-care, especially as we’re only allowed out for our allocated walk or run.

We seriously recommend you check out one of Joe’s work-outs. You’ll feel exhausted, but so much better afterwards!

We have another book review from our LRC Team! To hear more about The Librarian of Auschwitz, click the video below or head to their new Youtube Channel! Don’t forget to follow them over on their FACEBOOK page!

Lockdown has definitely been a time for both connecting AND re-connecting. We recently heard from Frankie Celeste, one of our Hairdressing students who has not only worked for Vivienne Westwood, but has set up her own luxury salon in Kidderminster! Head over to our CASE STUDIES for the full story.

We’re getting good at keeping a 6ft distance! Shopping for essentials is a totally different experience now, but we’re getting to grips with it. We’d like to take this moment to thank all the key workers and staff who keep the shelves stocked, who serve us at the check-out and who sometimes provide our only bit of human interaction.

We tried to enjoy the sunshine over the Bank Holiday, we tried to stay productive and we tried to do little things for people we care about. Featuring, Cat from Marketing’s dog Laggy on her allocated walk and basking in the sun, a small care package delivered to Esther and Cat’s newly repainted outhouse!

Remember to stay safe. Check in on your loved ones. We’re in this together.
