Animal Management Foundation Degree

The Animal Management Foundation Degree will develop students as professional, motivated and adaptable individuals to meet the demands of employers within the animal management sector.

The course will equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the animal management environment.

The course is delivered at Market Street with practical elements taking place off-site working with a variety of domesticated and exotic species, as well as experience with horses and ponies and this will help build up transferable skills, as well as general knowledge. You will be tasked with completing internally assessed work through essays, presentations and practical activities.

  • What will be studied

    The course will be made up of 8 units, which make up 120-unit credits. These units include:

    • Animal Health & Welfare (core unit)
    • Business and the Business Environment (core unit)
    • Managing a Successful Pearson-set Project (core unit)
    • Animal Behaviour in Society
    • Animal Husbandry
    • Horse Husbandry
    • Management of Equine Facilities
    • Management of Exotic Animal Species
  • What are the entry requirements?
    • Maths and English Language at Grade 4 and above as well as a Level 3 qualification in Animal Care/ Management or similar

     

    • Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience and/ or achievement of a range of professional qualifications within the animal industry

    Level 4 HNC (Higher National Certificate) Animal Management

  • How will this course be delivered?

    Full Time - Two days per week attendance required at College

    • In class delivery involving lectures, practicals, group discussion and independent research.
    • Tutorial and 1-2-1 support by course lead.
    • Access to a Microsoft Teams page with all relevant resources to support in learning experience.
    • Access to books and online journals. Resources can be ordered in to college.
  • How will I be assessed?

    All assignment work completed throughout the study programme may be assessed through written assignments, practical assessments, seminars, recorded verbal discussions, presentations and dissertations, graded at a pass, merit or distinction
