Our Technical Certificate in Animal Care is designed to help you recognise the signs of health, welfare and feeding for a variety of animals. Throughout the course you will work with a number of different species of animals including, ferrets, goats, reptiles and chickens. You will also study the care of exotic animals, exploring, sourcing and transporting the different species along with preparing and maintaining appropriate accommodation.
You'll get an introduction to important topics in Animal Care - you can choose from things like feeding and handlings, looking after their accommodation and understanding their health and welfare.You will also cover the science behind animal behaviour, take part in work experience and have the opportunity to gain valuable, transferable skills.

Animal Centre/Shelter Worker, Kennel or Cattery Worker, Pet Shop Assistant, Farm Worker (livestock), Animal Physiotherapist, Animal Technician, Applied Animal Behaviourist, Dog Trainer, Kennel Worker, Zoo Keeper
At the end of this one year course you will achieve a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Care
All practical and theory elements of the course will take place at WMSP
Assessment for this Level 2 Technical Certificate will revolve around internal assessments, both written and practical, externally set exams and practical assessments. Moderation will be externally assessed by City & Guilds.

Due to the nature of the course, you will be spending a considerable amount of time outside and in potentially adverse weather conditions. We ask that you bare this in mind and dress appropriately , warmly and invest in some waterproofs. You will require your own set of overalls and sturdy boots for all practical activities.
