Performing Arts Diploma – Level 2

Our Performing Arts Level 2 is aimed students that have been unsuccessful in gaining the entry requirements for a Level 3 programme but, wish to pursue their study in the Creative Industries with the aim of gaining the necessary additional qualification to allow them to hit their personal goals!

On this course, students will work through various units, including Dance, Acting, Business Organisation and Major Performance Processes. You'll also be able to focus on many different types of transferable skills including leadership responsibilities, constantly improve your social and communication skills and broaden your knowledge of the arts and the Creative Industries. You will also get to work with our Creative Industries Patron, Mark Lockyer.

The course is very performance based, you'll be working alongside other Level 2 students, gaining experience and training in all areas of dance, acting and singing. You will also cover a unit in career planning, which will heighten your research skills and promote an understanding of theory.

There are also many other opportunities to gain experience when collaborating and working alongside higher level students when taking part in production processes and extra-curricular activities/classes.

    • Solo acting
    • Music tech
    • Music ensemble performance

  • What are the entry requirements?

    If you'd like to apply for this course, you will need:-

    • 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (formerly grade D) or above, which should ideally include Maths and English, or completion of a Level 1 course.
    • A passion for the subject and the ability to work with others is essential.
    • Strong ability to work with others
    • Must be a motivated individual

     

    You will need to attend an interview and an audition, or present a portfolio of work appropriate to the subject area.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Many of our students progress on to a Level 3 programmes in Musical Theatre, Dance, Acting and Music!

    After a few more years of study, you'll be able to pursue a career in

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    On completion of this qualification, you will gain a RSL Level 2 Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts

  • How will this course be delivered?

    This course will be delivered through:-

    • Practical presentations
    • One to one tutorial work
    • Class rehearsals
    • Allocated coursework

     

    The course is run across four days - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

    Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but this may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week. Additional times will be communicated to you via your course leader.

     

  • How will I be assessed?

    There is a strong emphasis on practical work. A large number of the units are assessed practically with elements of written essays, reports, presentations and 1-2-1 tutor assessments
