Music – Level 3

If you are a budding musician, songwriter, singer, music producer or simply a lover of music this course will teach you how to turn your passion into a career. Working in today's music industry can be very rewarding but to succeed you not only need to be a great musician but also understand how to negotiate yourself through an industry that has been revolutionised by digital media. This course has been designed to teach you all these skills. It will also teach a number of transferable skills that will be required in the wider job market.

  • What are the entry requirements?
    • 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths
  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 Music Diploma.

  • How will this course be delivered?
    • The course is delivered over four days in a week plus performances at local venues and festivals
    • We provide a huge number of opportunities for performance in a range of local venues and festivals as part of this course

    • Videoed performance
    • Portfolio work
    • Production of promotional material

    Work experience opportunities:

    Using our facilities, you'll get the chance to learn the studio environment, go on educational trips, and have guest speaker talks.

    English and Maths:

    English will be included in learning new terminology and for written assessments.

    Maths will be included in keeping to time and counting beats.


    If you play a guitar or bass, you must bring your instrument and leads. Drummers will need to bring your own drumsticks. We supply everything else.

    You will need some good quality wired overear headphones.

    All Music students will need to bring:

    • Ear plugs/ear defenders
    • USB Memory stick or external hard drive
  • Exam Board:

    Upon successful completion of this course, you can go onto a Higher National Certificate in Music (Performance and Production).

    Alternatively, you can apply for a university degree in music.
