This is a chance to take your love of computing to a higher level. This course is a level 4 at HNC - year 1 (higher national certificate) and level 5 at HND - year 2 (higher national diploma). You can choose to complete one year and get an HNC or both to get the HND.
If you wish to then top-up to a full degree you can either do this in University or colleges that offer degree level top-ups by taking a 3rd year of the qualification.
The course itself contains areas you will be expected to know when heading towards a career in the IT sector, which might include cyber security, networking and web design to name a few. The industry is broad and so this qualification opens the path to many options by teaching the main fundamentals of computing, which is the base level needed for these careers.
In order to qualify for this Higher Education course you must have:
The ability to problem solve with creativity
Progression:
Degree top-up at University / college
Own business / freelance work in the IT industry, such as programming
Career / trainee position in an IT company
Year 1 - Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Computing
Year 2 - Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Computing
You will be awarded a Pass/Merit or Distinction for each completed Unit. Once all units are complete, you will receive an overall grade for the course.
