Early Years – Level 2

There can be few careers more rewarding than working with children. Whether you want to work with early years, school age, teenagers or families, jobs with children are available in the public, private or not-for-profit sectors.

Our Early Years Educators Level 2 qualification provides you with detailed knowledge of caring for children. Course content includes safeguarding children, child development, play and learning, health and safety and preparing safe environments.

Placement experience is a compulsory part of the course and provides the practical skills needed to work with children. You will also undertake 2 days per week assessed work experience in a variety of early year's settings, arranged by the college.

  • What will be studied

  • What are the entry requirements?

    In order to be considered for this popular qualification, you must:

    • 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 4 or above
    • Alternatively, have passed Level 1 of this course or hold an equivalent qualification
    • Have a strong work ethic
    • Have excellent people skills
    • A caring nature
    • You will also need to pass a DBS check

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Completion of this intensive course will allow you to gain the a CACHE Certificate CYPW Diploma Level 2.

    As part of your qualification we will organise a one week placement, enbaling you to apply what you have learned to a real-life role and gain valuable industry experience.

    • Reflective practice
    • Written assignments
    • Case studies
    • Work place assessment

    Students aged 19+ will be subject to fees. Student finance offers help with Advanced Learner Loans and support to students, please contact Learner Services on 01562 512003 or studentservices@kidderminster.ac.uk for more information.

    You will be required to purchase and wear a uniform consisting of a polo shirt or sweatshirt with the college logo.

    You will need to apply and pay for a DBS in order to attend placement.

    Additionally, whilst studying on the course we would expect you to bring equipment to classes to assist with completing lesson tasks, such as;
