Diploma in Electrical Installations – Level 3

The electrical installation industry is an evolving, progressive area with a high demand for qualified and passionate people, with skills and knowledge of the latest developments in this expanding sector of the construction environment.
The programme has been designed to develop a range of high level skills and a good knowledge of the electro-technical industry. The course helps the candidate to prepare to work safely within the electrical installation trade using modern tools and equipment, it also introduces basic electrical principles, installation and testing techniques and communication across the industry. Candidates will have the opportunity to construct and test electrical circuits covering a range of domestic, commercial and light industrial installations.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    To apply for a place on this popular course, you need to hold C&G 2365 level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation and have a good level of English and mathematics. You should not have any colour impairment with your vision, and ideally be able to work at height and be practically minded.

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is delivered via part time attendance of two evenings per week Wednesday & Thursday 18.00-21.00 for 46 weeks.

    Industry trained tutors provide both practical and theoretical study sessions using a blend of teaching and learning techniques.

  • How will I be assessed?

    All units will either be internally assessed throughout the course via completion of practical tasks and written assessments. Assessment is also via City& Guilds - evolve online exams, and internally marked written assignments, externally moderated.

    The cost of the course is £3345, learners may be co-funded if they meet the conditions or can take out an Adult Learner Loan (details on request). Assessment/exams fees are to be confirmed.

    Students will need to bring a scientific calculator, and protective footwear must be provided by the student for the workshop sessions.

  • WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

    Successful completion of the course enables the candidate to progress to the Level 3 apprenticeship scheme, or other diverse areas such as data/communication engineering, systems control and electrical maintenance. The successful candidate may also progress on to a HNC/HND or to Degree level of study and at University.
