Carpentry – Level 3

Level 3 Carpentry at Kidderminster College will see you tackle geometry, the fitting of kitchens, roofs, skirting, double doors, flooring, and ironmongery set-up, as well as more complicated repairs and fixes. Alongside this, you'll develop your organisational and people skills, preparing you for supervisory and managerial positions.

This diploma has been designed to develop, enhance, and perfect the skills required to enable you to work at a more advanced level in the construction industry. You'll be honing your craft throughout this qualification, ensuring you're ready to take your next step onto the career ladder.

  • What will be studied
    • Fitting of mouldings, flooring, and ironmongery
    • The setup and use of woodworking machinery
    • Geometry
    • Practicing traditional roof cuts
    • Tackling more complicated first fix roofing and stairs
  • What are the entry requirements?
    • GCSE at grade 3 or above in English and Maths
    • Completion of Carpentry Level 2
    • Have a strong work ethic
    • Have excellent people skills
  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Site Carpentry.

    Work experience opportunities:

    As per Level 2, part of this course will include two weeks of work placement which Kidderminster College will arrange for you. This will allow you to expand on your new skillset, theoretical knowledge and growing confidence and can be added to bolster your CV.

    English and Maths:

    English will be included in learning correct terminology and for written assignments.

    Maths will be included in measuring for practical work.

     

    All Carpentry students will need to bring:

    Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto our Pearson BTEC Level 4 in Construction Management.

    Alternatively, you can go into employment.
