Carpentry – Level 2

Our Level 2 Carpentry Diploma is designed to push your knowledge and skill set one step further, ensuring that by the end of the course, you have unlocked your potential as a carpenter and have a clear career goal in sight!

Not only will you study practical elements like floor and stair fitting, door framing and mouldings, but you'll also concentrate on the importance of communication on the work site, learn the significance of paying attention to detail and the theoretical and mathematical elements behind plans and work specifications.

    • Advanced Health & Safety procedures
    • Essential principles of building
    • Fitting of flooring, stairs, and mouldings
    • Gathering and implementing second fix operations
    • Fitting of door frames and doors
    • Setting up and utilising fixed and transportable machinery
  • What are the entry requirements?
    • GCSE in Maths and English at grade 3 or above
    • Or completion of Level 1 Carpentry Diploma
    • Strong work ethic
  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.

    Work experience opportunities:

    Part of this course will include two weeks of work placement which Kidderminster College will arrange for you. This will allow you to witness first-hand how your new skills and theoretical knowledge can be applied in a real-life setting and give you valuable work experience.

    English and Maths:

    English will be included in learning correct terminology and for written assignments.

    Maths will be included in measuring for practical work.

     

    All Carpentry students will need to bring:

    • Safety footwear
    • College Polo shirt

  • WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

    Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto our Level 3 Carpentry Diploma.

    Alternatively, you can go into employment, including becoming a Carpentry Assistant, Furniture Finisher, Woodworking Machine Operator, Project Manager and Team Leader.
