Brickwork – Level 2

Our Level 2 Brickwork Diploma takes it up a notch; equipping you with more advanced, complex techniques and theoretical know how. From interpreting working drawings to utilising brickwork and blockwork with steel lintels, the second tier of this practical course is designed to extensively develop both your knowledge and confidence when it comes to the skill set needed for your future career.

Working on-site at our fully kitted out Vocational Skills Centre workshops, you will gain a wealth of hands-on experience with the help of our industry-specialised tutors.

  • What will be studied

    During this course you will cover the following modules through practical, group, tutorial and theoretical work:

    • Health & Safety
    • Principles of Construction
    • Producing thin joint masonry
    • Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
    • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
    • Construct Cavity walling forming structural openings
  • What are the entry requirements?

    In order to be considered for this programme, you will need:

    • KC Level 1 Brickwork

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    At the end of this study programme you will gain a Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma in Brickwork

  • How will this course be delivered?

    This programme will be delivered via

    • Class work

     

    The study programme is 13 hours a week and also includes a 60 hour mandatory work placement.

    Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary.

    Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week.

  • How will I be assessed?
    • Assessments will occur at the end of each unit for practical and theory work.
    • This will take the form of multiple-choice examinations
    • You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction on successful completion of each unit.
  • Other Information:

    You will require the following:-

    • Safety footwear
    • 3m tape measure
    • We will supply additional PPE

    Overalls and steel toe cap boots will be required for practical activities
