Joining IGNITE Acting will offer you training in a professional capacity by industry specialists. Within classes and workshops you will gain a strong technical grounding in acting and performance, alongside professional and personal development.
The course is delivered by taught classes and rehearsals leading to large scale public performances. Past performances have included Of Mice and Men, Wuthering Heights and Crave.
IGNITE Acting students and IGNITE Musical Theatre students work collaboratively over their 2 years in creating innovative pieces of Contemporary Theatre, fused with dynamic Physical Theatre elements. Past productions have included Caryl Churchill's 'A Mouthful of Birds', Alice Sebold's 'The Lovely Bones', Jim Cartwright's 'ROAD' and a stage adaptation of John Hughes' 80's cult-classic 'The Breakfast Club'.
You will also take part in the IGNITE Acting Showcase at the end of the course, to celebrate your development as an individual performer, including opportunities to showcase your skills not only as a performer, but as a Director and Writer should you desire it.
IGNITE Acting students also have the opportunity to work alongside our Creative Industries patron Mark Lockyer. Mark is a professional Actor and theatre maker based in London, who has featured in a number of films, plays and TV series including Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, Holby City, London Road and Casualty.
The dynamic two year course will equip you with all the skills and confidence you need to progress to Drama School, University and into the professional working world, along with offering you the opportunity to direct your peers in theatrical productions, allowing you to develop a vast extent of creative opportunities.
SUPPORTED ACTING
This new supported learning programme will run alongside our very successful existing Level 3 in Acting.
This new strand of the course has been specially designed to accommodate students with specific learning needs. The course will work hand in hand with our outstanding support department and all learners will receive all the support and dedication they need on a regular basis in order to complete their programme. All the units that have been chosen are very specific and sympathetic to learner needs, while at the same time still include all the excitement and variety of a high-powered performing arts course.
With care and support and lots of attention paid to specific learners needs the staff will build confidence, create understanding and work hard to instil all those important transferable skills that a young person requires in order to move forward with their education

At the end of the two year study period, you will gain a BTEC Edexcel Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts - Acting
Due to the nature of the subject, this is an intensive full-time study course and you will be required to be at college for minimum of twelve hours per week over four days.
Compulsory evening rehearsals will be timetabled during show terms and busy periods, at the discretion of the course leader.
Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but this may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week. Additional times will be communicated to you via your course leader.
IGNITE Acting make frequent visits to watch live theatre, both locally and on the West End, as well as taking part in external workshops, community performances and charity events.
