Teri Long (Administration Apprenticeship)

Teri Long began her Administration Apprenticeship through Kidderminster College, working at Phosters (FM), A Facility Management company, progressing onto a career in HR. Teri chose the apprenticeship route on completion of her Double Business BTEC at Oldbury Wells Sixth Form, as she knew she did not want to go to university.

Teri said: “The apprenticeship gave me a great introduction to work and I was able to experience business support across the business. I really enjoyed HR and on completion of my apprenticeship was offered a full time permanent position assisting the HR Manager. I schedule HR and disciplinary meetings, monitor office staff holidays, produce reports for clients, deputise for the HR Manager for inductions and so much more.”

Phosters (FM) use the apprenticeship programme to enable them to mould an apprentice from scratch, training them within the business. Alex Taylor, HR Manager said: “Teri has made excellent progress with us and is extremely professional in everything she does. Her confidentiality skills are exceptional and this is really important in her role.”

Since completing her apprenticeship, the company has continued to support Teri’s development and she has undertaken HR courses at levels 3 & 4. “On completing my apprenticeship I feel I have grown up, I have left home and become independent and have started a career.”
