Megan Inche [Supporting teaching]

The Interview

Hi Megan, tell us about where you started, your work experience and where you ended.

My starting point was a Level 1 teaching assistant in a local Secondary School.  My end point was Studying Special Educational Needs, Disabilities, and Inclusion at University of Worcester.

Kidderminster College allowed me to study during evenings and work full time in two secondary schools. Both courses were both brilliant, and particularly useful for anyone who wants a career in education – whether it be a teacher or support staff role!

What skills have you gained from the course

Knowledge on various educational settings, confidence in delivering activities and made I friends on the course I still keep on contact with!

Tell us about your progression into employment, and progression within employment

With the qualifications gained at the college, I went from being a Level 1 TA in a local secondary to working in a city secondary school, specialising in supporting vulnerable KS3 learners and those identified as SEND.

I have since gained my HLTA status, and I am now studying full time at University of Worcester. I am in my first year of studying Special Educational Needs, Disabilities and Inclusion and really enjoying the experience.

Upon completing my degree, I hope to either going into teaching or work in a role specialising in SEND provision.
