Level 2 – Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STALS) Apprenticeship Framework
We caught up with Functional Skills Lecturer Iain, who couldn’t wait to tell us how proud he was of Gilly for all her hard work and determination!
“Gilly was entered to complete both her L1 Functional Skills ICT and L2 Functional Skills Maths aims as part of her Apprenticeship programme and started attending my workshop sessions in late October 2019. When I met Gilly at the outset, she admitted she was anxious about both of these aims. ICT, and in particular using Spreadsheets was not something she was overly confident with and had not really touched upon any sort of Maths learning since school. “
“…However, Gilly’s determination to succeed and the resilience to not give up, when she found the work challenging, provided a shining example to her peers within the group. Gilly took the initiative to work on practice test papers and revision materials in her own time and in between sessions, whilst balancing this with the responsibilities of her job role and family commitments. She also persevered, despite failing her first attempt at her ICT test by a few marks and I’m very proud of her efforts, attitude and engagement in her learning.”
