Sir Digby Jones enforces College Message

Local employers had the company of two very special guests at Kidderminster College’s Working Lunch Seminar on Friday 7th July: Sir Digby Jones, former Director General of the CBI and a West Midland Safari Park resident - a nine year old Burmese Python!

The event, held at Spring Grove House (West Midland Safari Park), saw the launch of the College’s new Level 2 Training Programme CD-ROM, aimed at local employers.

Principal, Andrew Miller welcomed the key note speaker who delighted a packed audience by delivering an enigmatic and vigorous speech about workforce development, reiterating that the value it added was not just to the UK as a trading nation, but to an employee’s life and society in general.

Stella Hammond, Business Development Manager at KC said ‘We were delighted to have such an influential person open our Seminar. Sir Digby further enforced the strategy which the college is so keen to share with local employers – that for economic and social wellbeing we need to understand the importance of investing in people’s training and education, which results in competitiveness and hard work, and ultimately profitability for all concerned.’

Guests learnt about the European Social Funding available for local employers for NVQs (Level 2) which the College can deliver in the workplace, in addition to the College’s successful bid for a major new employer initiative – ‘Train to Gain.’ Anyone wishing to obtain further information should contact the College’s Business Development Unit on 01562 512028 / 9.
