| Kidderminster College dance students are sticking to tradition by once again being offered places at two of the country’s top dance schools.
17 year old Lara Jasper, who is predicted to achieve three distinctions, has been offered a place at Stella Mann College in Hampstead, London, whilst Katie Scott, aged 17, who is also predicted to achieve three distinctions, has been offered a place at Bodywork Company Dance Studio in Cambridge.
The students, who complete their BTEC National Diploma in Dance this summer, have been dancing since a very early age: Lara since she was five, Katie since she was two. Lara commented, ‘It takes a lot of hard work and training to get into one of the top dance schools and that is the aim from the very beginning at Kidderminster College.’ Whilst Katie added, ‘One of the best things about the course at Kidderminster is that even though the main focus is on contemporary dance and ballet techniques, you get the opportunity to practice jazz and tap too.’
Equally delighted with their offers is dance tutor, Anna Lines who said, “Kidderminster College is renowned for its dance training and Lara and Katie are further examples of students who obtain places in some of top dance schools across the country having studied here with us. We’re delighted with their progress! And such is the success of Dance here at Kidderminster College that from this September we are offering students the opportunity to study for a BA (Hons) in Dance, in collaboration with Worcester University. ‘
