Five 2nd year students on the Enterprise for Employment course at Kidderminster College have been nominated to receive an Adult Learner’s Week Award for their work maintaining and improving the quality of Brinton’s Park for its visitors.

Enterprise for Employment is a specialist course aimed at learners with moderate learning and physical difficulties. Part of this course is focussed upon learning outside of the classroom and sees learners working in partnership with local employers.

 Working in conjunction with the district council’s Parks Officer, Kidderminster College has struck a partnership with Brinton’s Park for students to undertake work as Ground Maintenance staff.  This is the first year of this partnership and having learnt basic knowledge of planting and parks maintenance, students are busy working to improve the quality of Wyre Forest Parks and Green spaces to enhance visitor’s enjoyment of these areas.

Sharon Strange, Enterprise for Employment tutor said: “Our work with Brinton’s Park has provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain employment skills.  The team have really enjoyed the project; they’ve felt an important part of the local community and have gained increased confidence in themselves.”
