Funky recycled fashion, including a dress made from zips, a ball gown made from plastic and old items of clothes embellished with unwanted old materials will be just some of the fun items on display in the shop Window of Kidderminster’s Scope charity store from Monday 30th March.

The unique creations have all been designed and made by first year Art and Design students from Kidderminster College.  Six weeks ago 15 students were given the challenge of designing and making something new from unwanted second hand materials and old rubbish.  Since then materials sourced from home, charity shops and the Worcester Resource Exchange have all been transformed into fun and funky fashion items.

Thea Brown, Art and Design tutor said: “We always challenge students to think outside of the box when contemplating design and this task allowed them to do just that by creating some stunning designs from things that are just found lying around at home or were disposed of for recycling.  I’m really impressed with the results and we’re looking forward to displaying the work for all to see – hopefully it will inspire others to think about recycling their old items into something new!”

The display runs from Monday 30th March – Monday 6th April in the Scope shop window, 27/28 Worcester Street, Kidderminster.
