British Hairdresser of the year (05/06), resident colour expert on Channel 4’s ‘Ten Years Younger’ and former student of Kidderminster College, Lisa Shepherd, officially opened Kidderminster College’s new ‘Elements’ Hair, Beauty and Holistics Salons, on Friday November 6th at 11am.
Elements Salons is the result of a £120k investment from Worcestershire County Council and the college enabling Kidderminster College to offer a fantastic learning environment to the new Diploma in Hair and Beauty pupils from across the Wyre Forest and Hagley.
Complementing the traditional post 14 curriculum, the new Diploma courses allow Year 10 pupils to expand their horizons along a more vocational career path. Along with the Hair and Beauty Diploma, pupils across the area can also choose from up to 11 other Diplomas in areas such as Construction, Business Administration and Finance, and Creative and Media. In effect, pupils are now able to choose a course that suits their interests and career desires rather than choose an additional GCSE subject they are less engaged with.
The new Diplomas are a major element of Government Education Policy and the ContinU Trust is a leading collaborative not only in the West Midlands but nationally
