M.A.S. Records, the independent record label based at Kidderminster College, has been awarded the coveted 'Rockschool' sponsored National Music Award from 'Access To Music'. The award has been made in recognition of the commitment and innovative work produced by M.A.S. Records creative director and course leader Kevyn Gammond and his team who will collect the award in London on 21st September.

Anna Place, Head of Lifelong Learning at Kidderminster College, said, “Gaining this award is even more exceptional given that it is our first year working with ‘Rockschool'. The team have worked tirelessly, frequently in the evenings and at weekends, to provide an outstanding learning experience for our students and thoroughly deserve the recognition.”

Kevyn Gammond commented, “Receiving the ‘Access To Music’ award this year is very gratifying. The M.A.S. Records team consistently strives to offer good service. In March we received a Grade 1 from Ofsted in recognition of our outstanding achievement, standards, and quality of provision, so this year has been thrilling.”

The Rock School qualification for Music Practitioners is offered at levels 1 -3 at Kidderminster College. The course aims to help students obtain a flexible, vocationally relevant suite of popular music qualifications to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude required to carve a successful career within today’s rewarding, yet highly competitive music industry. Ex-Led Zeppelin star Robert Plant, is patron to the M.A.S. record label and most of the output is recorded and produced in the college’s custom built recording studio. Kidderminster College is proud to have, over the last 20 years, helped students go on to establish themselves within the industry as engineers, producers, artistes and performers in their own right.
