College welcomes its four artists in residence
Kidderminster College is pleased to announce the arrival of its four artists in residence. The ‘Artists Access to Art Colleges’ (AA2A) project is a national project which offers ‘mini residencies to artists.
This scheme is part funded by the Arts Council of England to enable artists access to colleges and presents an excellent opportunity for students to work alongside practising artists, to enhance their skills and gain an awareness of the creative industries outside college.
At a local level the scheme gives four artists the opportunity to use the college’s facilities, from computers to kilns and life rooms to libraries, to develop their work, whether that is researching or realising a project. This allows students to work alongside artists and gain a valuable insight into the art world. It is also of enormous benefit to the college as it brings in ideas and techniques which may not otherwise enter the college environment.
The four Artists in Residence at Kidderminster College are: Ceramic artist - June Baker, Graphic Artist - Marcus Aserie, Visual Artist - Shirleyanne Carey and Glass Artist Susan Purser Hope.
Each artist/maker has at least 100 hours access, which they can use over a period of at least 17 weeks, between October and April.
