| The
beauty and grandeur of Worcester Cathedral provided
the most fitting setting in which to congratulate
University of Worcester graduates last week. Amongst
them were staff from Kidderminster College, collecting
their Certificate in Education.
The tutors, thirteen in total, were from various
curriculum areas across the College. During their
two years of study an Ofsted inspection highlighted
the excellent standard of teaching demonstrated
on the course, describing it as offering a ‘wide
range of teaching and learning strategies to ensure
that learners engage enthusiastically with their
learning.’
Ofsted also went on to say that the ‘Lessons
incorporated a good range of teaching and learning
strategies and a wide range of resources….
with lively, stimulating and challenging sessions.’
Lynn Forth, the Cert Ed tutor, said how proud
she and fellow Tutor, Cath Russell were of the
students’ energy, commitment and willingness
to try something new. ‘They all really cared
about the educational issues involved in the Course.
It’s obvious they love the challenge of
motivating their own students to achieve their
full potential and the college as a whole has
benefited from their infectious enthusiasm for
teaching.’
Their success was further summed up by Head of
Quality Improvement and Information Services,
Andy Dobson, ‘We are extremely proud of
what these trainees have achieved. We know that
our Cert Ed programme is excellent and these teachers
have worked very hard to get the most from it.
They fully deserve their success.’
Those who graduated were: Phil Barry, Jon Bates,
Jackie Bould,
Sandra Brewer, Tina Cashmore, Dave Chipp, Jenny
Eglinton, Caroline Freeman, Angela Gregory, Steve
Hill, Sam Janisch, Maria Kysela and Gail Loftus.
