| Anyone
with aspirations of a career in the music industry
would have been at the ‘Music Live!’
this weekend. The three day event at the NEC kicked
off on Friday with ‘Education Day’
– a day dedicated to providing students
with all the information they need to forge a
career in music and Kidderminster College proved
to be a star attraction.
Kidderminster College, recognised as one of the
best colleges in the Midlands for its music courses
and facilities, had a fantastic, interactive display
where students could even try their hand at music
production. But perhaps the most appealing aspect
of the stand was the ‘live stage’
which was set up in collaboration with digital
music distributor 'Ditto Music' – which
also has its own new music show on SKY TV.
The crowds were drawn in by impressive deliveries
from former college student Luke Brant and his
band and current students ‘Mooch’.
However, the loudest and most rapturous reception,
was given to former Big Brother winner Pete Bennett
and his band, who took the stage by storm, blasting
out their songs for some 15 minutes, much to the
delight of their teenage audience!
College staff, clad in branded t-shirts, offered
constructive advice and encouraged students to
try their hand at music production. And with some
9000 students passing through the doors in just
one single day, it was no mean feat.
The atmosphere was electric and Carrie Pickering,
course leader commented, ‘The live performances
and on-stand demos which have been going on today
mean that every visitor we’ve had has gone
away feeling totally inspired! And with the vast
array of music and production courses available
at Kidderminster College, I’m hoping we’ll
be at the top of their lists when they make their
choices!’
The full range of music courses offered by Kidderminster
College, which includes a new HND in Urban and
Electronic Music Production, can be found in the
new 09-10 prospectus and on the College website.
