The Governors of Kidderminster College have appointed Andy Dobson as the college’s new Principal and Chief Executive with effect from the 1st February. Andy is currently the College’s interim Principal.
Andy began his career in FE in 1990, (having previously worked in schools and overseas) before joining Kidderminster College in 2003. As Head of Quality Improvement and Information Services, he played a key role in the college’s recent successful Ofsted Inspection, where the college was awarded an overall ‘good’ grade for its standards of teaching and achievement.
Andy commented, ‘I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead Kidderminster College into the next phase of its development. This is a challenging time to be involved in education and I am sure this college is up to the challenge. Helping people to get the skills they need is a high priority for the government as we come out of recession but it’s also something that we know from experience can change the lives of people and communities. Last year’s inspection confirmed that we have built strong foundations for success here. Our focus is now on ensuring that we sustain and build on what we have achieved and go on to become a truly outstanding college, which can work with people and employers across the Wyre Forest and beyond to have a real impact on the prosperity and development of the area.”
Jonathan Grice, Chair of the Governors at Kidderminster College added, “The Governors are delighted that Andy came through a rigorous selection process against strong competition to be appointed Principal of Kidderminster College. Andy and his colleagues have already worked very hard to make the college a success for all its students and we are confident that under his leadership it will move forward to more outstanding achievements.”
Andy replaces Andrew Miller, who has been appointed Principal of Swindon College.
