Kidderminster College Sports Academies
All learners have the opportunity to join and participate in the Sporting Academies and/or activities run throughout the year at Kidderminster College.
The Football Academy has been running for over 9 years, with college staff working alongside players and management of Kidderminster Harriers Football Club to provide the best coaching and instruction. The teams have been very successful with some learners progressing onto a higher level.
Our Golf Academy is run in conjunction with Kidderminster Golf Club, a high quality 18-hole golf course, situated within and surrounded by beautiful Worcestershire countryside. Learners will have the exciting opportunity to develop their skills with PGA qualified golf professionals.
Kidderminster College also provides opportunities to try other sporting and leisure activities such as Netball, Badminton, Body Pump, Kick Boxing, Fencing, Taekwondo and various outdoor pursuits. Wednesday afternoon is allocated for participating in College sport; therefore most teams play on this day.
Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership
Kidderminster College is part of the Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership with its aims being:
- Provision of high quality PE for all learners
- Provision of opportunities for all young people to participate in a range of high quality activities on a college site and in the community environment
- Provision for all young people to develop their potential
- Provision for all young people to undertake high quality leadership and volunteering roles
Leaners from the College have signed up to the 'Step into Sport' passport scheme. The main aim of 'Step into Sport' is to encourage more young people to become involved in sport in their local community. The programme also encourages and generates greater volunteer links between schools and clubs.
