CACHE Level 1 Foundation Award - Caring for Children

Aims of the Course

To equip suitable candidates to progress to appropriate qualifications at Level 2 such as the BTEC 1st Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or the NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 2.

Course Content

Students will study 7 core units to complete the Award.
Core units include:
• Personal Development
• Human Growth andDevelopment from Birth to Old Age
• Food and Nutrition
• Health & Safety Practices in Home Group Settings
• Care of Children
• Play and Practical Activities
• Orientation to work programme.

Students will attend approximately 15 days placement experience and Essential Skills will be incorporated into the programme.


Successful Completion

Could allow you to progress onto a Level 2 qualification such as the BTEC 1st Diploma.

Course Length: One year full time.
Qualifications Needed:

No formal qualifications are necessary.

Interview required: Yes + reference and CRB clearance.
Fee: £35 admin fee + If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please check with Student Services.
Additional Costs: Uniform for placement.
Materials Required: To be advised at induction.

Qualifications Achieved: Cache L1 Foundation Award in Caring for Children.
Examination/Assessment The course is assessed through candidate friendly motivational and interesting tasks, which are assessed by the centre and moderated by CACHE. There is a short answer test paper at the end of the programme. This is student friendly and very much reflects the introductory nature and level of the programme.
