The course will assist
learners in developing a range of high level skills,
which will prepare students for a diverse range
of careers. Many students progress to Higher Education
or enter the Armed Forces or Emergency Services.
Additional career options include general management
and sales & marketing.
Course Content
The course is made up of 18 units.
The 6 core units are:

• Sport & Exercise Physiology
• Sport & Exercise Psychology
• Research Methods for Sport & Exercise
Sciences
• Research Project in Sport & Exercise
Sciences
• Sports Biomechanics in Action.
The 12 specialist units are:
• Exercise, Health and Lifestyle
• Fitness Testing for Sport & Exercise
• Training and Fitness for Sport
• Sport and Exercise Massage
• Analysis of Sports Performance
• Sports Nutrition
• Sport and Society
• Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise
• Sports Injuries
• Sports Coaching
• Practical Team Sports
• Exercise for Specific Groups.

Employment in the Health
& Fitness industry, sports therapy, sports
coaching.
Successful Completion
Could allow you to progress
onto the following courses:
Higher National Diploma (HND), BSc (Hon.) Sport
& Exercise Science, B. Ed (teaching) or equivalent
