BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology**

** Students can choose to combine ND Music Technology and ND Music by taking a joint pathway

Aims of the Course


The course prepares students for the environment of working with sound - practically, theoretically and creatively - using the latest technology currently available. The course is very much ‘hands on’ with a high degree of involvement with musicians, actors and dancers. Students will also be supporting the many performances that take part within the department in highly responsible and creative roles - creating music or sound for shows and also acting as live balance engineers. Students will use a variety of software including Cubase and Pro Tools plus hardware including Tascam 48 channel digital mixers.

You will have the opportunity to gain considerable practical experience using our excellent facilities which currently include a dedicated computer music suite and professional 24 track digital recording studio.

Jobs and Careers

BTEC National Diplomas are valued by employers and higher education (Universities and colleges). Students go into careers such as music management, teaching, performance and production.

Live Sound Engineer, Recording Studio Engineer, Multimedia or Video Sound Engineer, Composer, Producer, Performer.

Successful Completion

Possible progression on to HND or Degree courses in Music Technology or a related discipline.

Course Length: Two years full time.
Qualifications Needed:

4 GCSE passes at grade C or higher, of which one must be Mathematics.

Interview required: Yes.
Fee: £35 admin fee + If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please check with Student Services.
Additional Costs: Visits and trips.
Materials Required: You will be expected to provide media to record your work.
