of the Course
The Foundation Diploma will:
• Develop your ability to learn outside the classroom and work independently
• Help you choose your degree course
• Help you learn the practical skills needed to develop ideas and concepts
• Allow you to undertake critical studies to aid your own creative development
• Help you build your portfolio
• Gain an understanding of how art, design, craft and
communication could feature in your future education and career.
Course Content
Students will be introduced to a wide range of activities like drawing, painting, 3D studies, graphic, and textile, photography, life drawing and historical and contextual studies.
The BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is an intensive oneyear or 2 year, post A-level course, which gives you the opportunity to explore the many areas of Art & Design before choosing an area in which to specialise. This makes the course ideal preparation for entry to Higher Education (degree) courses and a career in Art & Design.
You will:
• Explore the different areas of art and design practice
• Identify your talents and interests
• Create a portfolio of your work, ready for application to a degree course or employment.
