BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts

Aims of the Course

To provide students with an introduction to the vocational
area of performing arts together with an opportunity to improve vocational, essential and personal skills within the Performing Arts industry.


Course Content

Performing scripted plays, devising plays, acting, musical theatre, understanding music, working as a musical ensemble, exploring computer systems used by musicians, producing a musical recording, crewing for a stage performance, sound operations for stage performance, lighting operations for stage performance, performing dance, contemporary dance, jazz dance.

Careers

Will provide a grounding which allows students to progress
onto Level 3 Performance, Production, Music, or other related Level 3 courses, or other training within the area.


Successful Completion


Could allow you to progress onto the following courses:
National Diploma in Performing Arts/Music Technology and Production Art.

Course Length: One year full time (16 hours).
Qualifications Needed:

3 GCSEs at level D or above.

Interview required: Yes. This will involve a short monologue to read or piece of music played on chosen instruments.
Fee: £35 admin fee + If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable- please contact Student Services
Additional Costs: Trips and visits.

Qualifications Achieved: EDEXCEL BTEC in First Diploma in Performing Arts has 2 core units together with additional EDEXCEL additional units.
Examination/Assessment Assessment is continual throughout the programme.
