Learning Support Fund

The costs of attending College can be expensive particularly if you have to purchase uniforms and equipment for your course. You can apply to the College for financial support through the Learner Support Fund. Funding is subject to your personal circumstances but could help with:

• Tuition Fees (if applicable)
• Examination/Assessment/Registration fees (if applicable)
• Travel to and from college and work placement, bus / train fares or mileage if more than six miles round trip
• Books and equipment
• Child Care (class contact time and placements)
• Educational visits

Learner Support Fund Application Forms are available from Student Services from the second week of term. If you need to apply for support please speak to a member of staff who will provide you with details and the deadline for receipt of applications.

You may need to supply documentary evidence of other benefits you are receiving. In addition, if you or your family are in receipt of benefits or Working Tax Credits within certain limits, you may be eligible for rebates or remission of costs; proof of your benefits will be required.

Financial Help for Childcare

For students under 19 with children, the Care 2 Learn scheme provides extensive financial support for registered childcare; details are available from the Connexions Service.

The College also benefits from having its own nursery for children aged between 2 and 5 years. The cost of placement is £12.25 per half day session for the 2008/9 academic year.

For children below this age, we do not offer nursery places but may be able to assist in covering some of your childcare costs.

Childcare costs can be considered through the Learner Support Fund, please discuss your queries with Student Services.
