Adult Learner Charges

There is a charge for some full-time courses for those aged 19 or over. Most of the course is subsidised by the College and we will continue to pay registration and examination fees. The reason why charges have been introduced is because we no longer receive as great a contribution for running courses as previously. The charge will be £350 for a full-time course from Sept 2009.

Who will have to Pay?

The charge applies to full-time courses.
You will pay if:
• You are 19+ on 1 September 2009
• You are also starting a new one or two year course
• You already have the equivalent level of qualification.

Can payments be made in stages?

Yes - a facility will be available to pay in three instalments through a Direct Debit arrangement. The instalments will be debited in October, November and December. There is an admin charge to do this.

I want to study but I can’t afford it?

It is best to discuss your concerns with the Student Services Team or Independent Advice and Guidance here at the College. There may be funding opportunities available to you through the Adult Learning Grant or Learner Support Fund.
