Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Child Care and Education
Course Content
The course is divided into 12 units of study and in addition learners have to undertake 750 hours assessed work experience in a variety of early years settings 0 - 7 years 11 months. The areas of study are:
- An introduction to working with children
- Development from conception to age 16 years
- Supporting children
- Keeping children safe
- The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner
- Promoting a healthy environment
- Play and learning in children's education
- Caring for children
- Development of professional skills within children's education
- Nutrition and healthy food for children
- Developing children's (3 - 8 Years) communication, language and literacy skills
- Working with babies from birth to 12 months

Gaining the qualification could lead to employment within almost every early years environment.

| Progression routes: | Successful completion could allow progression onto a range of CACHE Level 4 awards and related higher education programmes, for example Early Years Teaching, Nursing, Midwifery and Foundation degrees. |

| Entry requirements: | CACHE Certificate in Early Years at Distinction, BTEC First Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Education at distinction. Four GCSEs grade A - C or above - one to be English. |
| Interview required: | Yes. Plus reference and CRB clearance. |
| Fee: | If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please confirm with Learner Services. |
| Additional costs / materials required: | CRB payment. Learners will also need smart black trousers and flat black shoes in addition to a college polo-shirt and sweatshirt for placement. A course textbook is essential. USB memory stick. |
